This tea is one of the most famous Chinese oolongs, also known as Big Red Robe. The few original plants grow on a shear cliff in the Wuyi Mountain National Park in the mountains of Northern Fujian. Most Da Hong Pao is produced from cuttings of the original plants or their offspring. The tightly curled, dried leaf is a dark, saddle brown color. After rinsing the leaves, an astoundingly complex fragrance is released.
Multiple infusions will keep an equally rich and floral flavor - reminiscent of apricot and malt, with a long sweet aftertaste.
